Mountain Discoveries is focused on the Western Maryland region including neighboring Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The magazine features people, activities, places and articles of interest, and is written and produced by people in this area.

About the cover:
I shot the background photo on the cover one evening this past summer at one of the overlooks in Green Ridge State Forest. I have been asked what I use to get my best shots. Mostly I use a Nikon F-3 and Nikon F-5, although I have everything from 14mm to 300mm. My favorite for landscape is a 20mm (all lenses are Nikkor). I also use a Hasselblad and Pro-1 Digital for human interest. My favorite film is Kodak E-6 Professional, in 120 or 35mm. This is slide film and gives optimum rendition for offset press. All of my photos in this book were taken with one of the above. — Lance C. Bell
