The
Knot Hole Craft Shop
A
unique place to shop in Allegany County, Maryland
|
The Knot Hole Craft Shop originated in a 120-year old barn in
Pennsylvania. In 1990, as the new Interstate 68 was being finished,
the owners decided to move the business. The country shop is
located along the scenic Historic National Road 6 miles east
of Flintstone. The 2-story house built in 1913 still has some
of the original wallpaper and floor coverings. They believe
the foundation dates back to the 1700s when the building
was used as a Stagecoach stop and Inn.
Painted peach and blue, the shop is visible from the Interstate,
surrounded by the Green Ridge State Forest. Outside youll
find Amish-made furniture and lawn decorations including wishing
wells, lighthouses and bridges. Inside youll be amazed
at the collection of collectibles, crafts and furniture. The
Knot Hole is Western Marylands largest Cats Meow
Village Dealer, with over 30 custom buildings from Cumberland
and surrounding areas. These are miniature wooden reproductions
of historic buildings that are designed exclusively for The
Knot Hole. Some of these were designed for churches and schools
to be used as fund raisers for their organi-zations. We also
work with The Western Maryland Railway Gift Shop and The Allegany
County Historical Society in the sale of our customs. Other
collectibles include Mill Creek Sculptures, Sheilas Houses,
Marble Mountain Trains, Williraye, American Chestnut and Boyds
Bears.
Throughout the store youll view pictures by well known
artists, Warren Kimble, Laurie Korsgaden and Pauline Campanelli.
Youll also be delighted by the works of our local artisans
who design and create our floral arrangements, wreaths, woodcrafts,
dolls and many more beautiful hand-crafted items. A few years
ago we expanded into the building next door. Here youll
find over 1200 Boyds Bears, salt-glazed pottery, baskets,
candles, wind chimes and garden items. We are proud to be a
Silver Paw Dealer with The Boyds Collection and to be
a part of the many donations that have been made to various
charities by Boyds, i.e. The New York Firefighters
9-11 Disaster Relief Fund and the Starlight Childrens
Foundation. We would also like to recognize Cats Meow
for their support of The American Cancer Society, The Humane
Society and their creation of the 2002 Unity Tree which is covered
with red, white and blue ribbons; a portion of the proceeds
will benefit the New York Firefighter and the Police Foundations
Heroes Funds.
Our BARN in Pennsylvania, just 7 miles from our store, is open
every year in November for our annual Christmas In The
Country Craft Show. Please visit our website www.theknothole.
